Privacy Policy
Svala helps you set limits for selected apps and websites using Apple's Screen Time technologies. This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled by Svala, how it is used, and what choices you have.
Summary
- Svala does not require an account for its core limiting features.
- Your selected limits and unlock state are stored on your device and, where needed by Screen Time extensions, in the app's shared app group container.
- Svala uses Apple Screen Time frameworks to select, monitor, and shield limited activity.
- Svala may offer optional rewarded ads through Google Mobile Ads, which may involve data processing by Google and its partners.
- If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to send.
Who is responsible for this policy
This policy applies to the Svala app and the getsvala.app website. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
Information you provide
Svala does not require you to create an account for its core limiting features. If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include in your message, such as your device model, iOS version, screenshots, or a description of the issue.
Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your support request.
Information stored on your device
The app stores settings needed to operate your limits and preferences. This may include selected app and website tokens, monitor identifiers, weekly schedules, daily limit values, pending limit changes, temporary unlock state, rewarded ad unlock counts, emergency unlock counts, app appearance, language preference, and onboarding status.
This information is stored locally on your device. Where needed for Screen Time extensions, it is stored in Svala's shared app group container so the main app and extensions can read the same limit configuration.
Screen Time data
Svala uses Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to let you select apps and websites, monitor selected activity, show shields, and display limited activity information. These Apple frameworks are permission-based and controlled by iOS.
Svala uses the data exposed by those frameworks only to provide limiting, shielding, reporting, and temporary unlock features. Svala does not require an account and does not operate its own server to collect your selected Screen Time tokens or local limit settings.
Challenges and temporary unlocks
Svala may offer math challenges, typing challenges, emergency unlocks, and rewarded ads as ways to receive temporary extra time. The app stores the local state needed to grant and limit these unlocks, such as today's unlock counts and minutes granted.
Rewarded ads and consent
Svala may offer optional rewarded ads through Google Mobile Ads. Svala uses Google's consent tools to determine whether ads can be requested and, where required, to present privacy choices before requesting ads.
Depending on your region, device settings, consent choices, and Google's advertising configuration, Google and its partners may process information such as device identifiers, advertising identifiers where available, IP address, approximate location, app interactions, ad interactions, diagnostics, crash-related data, and other data described in Google's policies.
Rewarded ads are optional. If consent is required and not available, ads may not load and ad-based unlocks may not be available.
Website and support email
The getsvala.app website provides app information, support, and legal documents. If the website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider, that provider may process technical information such as IP address, browser information, timestamps, and request logs to deliver and secure the website.
If you use email links on the website or in the app, your email provider and our email provider process the message according to their own policies.
How information is used
- To save and apply your app and website limits.
- To monitor selected activity and show shields when limits are reached.
- To grant and limit optional temporary unlocks.
- To remember app preferences such as appearance, language, and onboarding state.
- To load, present, and verify optional rewarded ads where available.
- To present advertising consent choices where required.
- To respond when you contact us for support.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the app and website.
Sharing
Svala does not sell your personal information. Locally stored Screen Time selections and limit settings are not sent to a Svala account server because Svala does not currently operate one for the core limiting features.
Information may be processed by Apple as part of the operating system features used by the app, by Google and its advertising partners when you use ad-supported features, by hosting or email providers when you use the website or contact support, and by authorities or other parties if required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, users, or the app.
Third-party services and policies
Third-party services used by Svala may process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Relevant services include Apple platform features, Google Mobile Ads, Google's User Messaging Platform, website hosting providers, and email providers.
Apple requires developers to provide App Store privacy details describing app data practices, and Google provides privacy guidance for the Mobile Ads SDK and User Messaging Platform. Those disclosures and policies may provide additional information about data processing by Apple, Google, and their partners.
Children
Svala is not intended to collect personal information directly from children through an account or registration flow. Family Controls permissions and device-level restrictions are managed through Apple's systems. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through support email, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Data retention
Limit settings, app preferences, and unlock state remain on your device until you change them, reset the app, or delete the app. Deleting the app generally removes locally stored app data from the device, subject to iOS behavior and any backups managed by Apple.
Support emails may be retained as long as needed to respond, keep records of the request, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations. Website logs, if collected by hosting providers, are retained according to the provider's settings and policies.
Your choices
- You can change or remove limits inside the app.
- You can revoke Screen Time permissions in iOS settings.
- You can choose whether to use optional rewarded ads when available.
- You can use available in-app privacy options to update advertising consent where applicable.
- You can delete the app to remove locally stored app data from your device, subject to iOS behavior and backups.
- You can contact us about privacy requests related to information you have provided directly, such as support emails.
International processing
Third-party services, hosting providers, email providers, and advertising partners may process information in countries other than where you live. Their processing is governed by their own policies and applicable legal safeguards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Svala develops or as legal, technical, or business requirements change. The latest version will be posted on this page. Continued use of Svala after an update means the updated policy applies to your use from that point forward.
