Privacy Policy

Svala helps you set limits for selected apps and websites using Apple's Screen Time technologies. This Privacy Policy explains separately how information is handled by the Svala app, the getsvala.app website, and support email.

Summary

Who is responsible for this policy

This policy applies to the Svala app and the getsvala.app website. Questions can be sent to [email protected].

Information you provide

Svala does not require you to create an account for its core limiting features and does not include an in-app support form that automatically submits data. If you choose to contact us using your email service, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include in your message, such as your device model, iOS version, screenshots, or a description of the issue.

Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your support request.

Information stored on your device

The app stores settings needed to operate your limits and preferences. This may include selected app and website tokens, monitor identifiers, weekly schedules, daily limit values, pending limit changes, temporary unlock state, emergency unlock counts, app appearance, language preference, and onboarding status.

This information is stored locally on your device. Where needed for Screen Time extensions, it is stored in Svala's shared app group container so the main app and extensions can read the same limit configuration.

Screen Time data

Svala uses Apple's Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks to let you select apps and websites, monitor selected activity, show shields, and display limited activity information. These Apple frameworks are permission-based and controlled by iOS.

Svala uses the data exposed by those frameworks only to provide limiting, shielding, reporting, and temporary unlock features on your device. Screen Time selections, activity information, reports, and local limit settings are not transmitted by Svala to the developer, advertisers, analytics providers, or other companies.

Challenges and temporary unlocks

Svala may offer math challenges, typing challenges, memory pattern challenges, eye break activities, and emergency unlocks as ways to receive temporary extra time. The app stores the local state needed to grant and limit these unlocks, such as today's unlock counts and minutes granted.

Website and support email

The getsvala.app website provides app information, support, and legal documents and is separate from the app's on-device data processing. The website is hosted using Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical request information such as IP address, browser information, timestamps, and request logs to deliver and secure the website.

If you use email links on the website or in the app, your email provider and our email provider process the message according to their own policies. Visiting the website or voluntarily sending a support email is not automatic data collection by the Svala app.

How information is handled

Sharing

The Svala app does not sell personal information or send locally stored Screen Time selections, app usage, limit settings, or device identifiers to advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or a Svala account server.

Information may be processed by Apple as part of the operating system features used by the app. Separately, hosting or email providers process information when you visit the website or voluntarily contact support. Information may also be disclosed if required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety, users, or the app.

Third-party services and policies

The Svala app does not integrate third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. It relies on Apple platform features for Screen Time functionality. Website hosting and email services are separate from the app and may process information under their own terms and privacy policies when you use them.

Apple requires developers to provide App Store privacy details describing app data practices. Those disclosures and Apple's policies may provide additional information about data processing by Apple platform features.

Children

The Svala app does not collect personal information from children through an account, registration flow, advertising, analytics, or tracking. Family Controls permissions and device-level restrictions are managed through Apple's systems. If you believe a child has voluntarily sent us personal information through support email, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Data retention

Limit settings, app preferences, and unlock state remain on your device until you change them, reset the app, or delete the app. Deleting the app generally removes locally stored app data from the device, subject to iOS behavior and any backups managed by Apple.

Support emails may be retained as long as needed to respond, keep records of the request, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations. Website logs, if collected by hosting providers, are retained according to the provider's settings and policies.

Your choices

International processing

When you visit the website or voluntarily contact support, website hosting and email providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Their processing is governed by their own policies and applicable legal safeguards. The Svala app does not transmit its locally stored Screen Time or usage data for international processing.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Svala develops or as legal, technical, or business requirements change. The latest version will be posted on this page. Continued use of Svala after an update means the updated policy applies to your use from that point forward.
